BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League has named Jamir Gibson as the men’s athlete of the week and freshman Emily Fink as the women’s rookie of the week for the second consecutive week.
The duo had another exceptional weekend, this time at the Virginia Challenge.
Gibson once again led the way for the Black Knights in the throwing events. He placed third in the shot put (19.09) and second in the discus (57.86m) which both are third on the ECAC list. The shot put mark ranks first in the Patriot League and 22nd in the nation.
Fink has tied the Patriot League record for women’s outdoor rookie of the week awards with four. She placed sixth in the shot put (15.14m) and seventh in the hammer throw (57.73m) which are both ECAC-qualifying distances. She has the best shot put mark and third-best hammer throw distance in the Patriot League this season.
