Nichtern, who is on the list for the third straight season, has performed up to his numerous preseason All-American honors with his electrifying play this season as he paces the offensive attack for the nationally-ranked Black Knights.
The reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year is second in the nation in points per game (6.0) and assists per game (3.50) while leading the conference in both categories. He is sixth in the conference in goals per game (2.5). Nichtern, who was named the preseason Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week three times. He has notched double-digit assists in every game this season.
He is rewriting the Army record book this season. On March 26, Nichtern became the program’s career leader in points (239) and assists (143) as he helped rally Army to a 14-12 win at Loyola Maryland. He finished with a game-high seven points including five points in the fourth quarter. He is on the verge of setting the single-season records in assists and points. His career 3.06 assists per game are second among active NCAA Division I players and his career 5.2 points per game third second among active players.
The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation. Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be selected from these groups, to be announced in three weeks at the conclusion of the regular season.

About The Tewaaraton Foundation
Founded at the University Club of Washington, DC and first presented in 2001, the Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. Endorsed by the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders and U.S. Lacrosse, the Tewaaraton Award symbolizes lacrosse’s centuries-old roots in Native American heritage. The Tewaaraton Foundation ensures the integrity and advances the mission of this award. Each year, the Tewaaraton Award celebrates one of the six nations of the Haudenosaunee/Iroquois Confederacy – the Mohawk, Cayuga, Oneida, Onondaga, Seneca and Tuscarora – and presents two scholarships to students of Native American descent.
